Stéphane PouyesPartner — criminal law

A graduate of the Université de Montréal's Bachelor of Laws program, Me Stéphane Pouyes has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 2021. First as a student, then as an articling clerk, he began his legal career within a leading criminal-defence firm in the Montréal region. He learned every fundamental of the profession there, sharpened his skills and refined his legal reflexes — including on major and high-profile files. After a brief tenure with the Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales (DPCP) in Gatineau, Me Pouyes resumed his career by partnering with Me Velandia to defend the fundamental rights and legitimate interests of their clients. He has also taught as a lecturer in the police-techniques program at Cégep de Maisonneuve, training future officers on the legal issues of their work. Me Pouyes also offers his services in Creole, in addition to French and English.

Aware of the stigma attached to a criminal charge, Stéphane is a firm advocate for the rule of law. His dynamic, humanistic approach helps clients navigate a demanding legal system with confidence.
